The Yield Gap Maize under Intensive Cropping System in Central Java

نویسندگان

چکیده

The study aimed to estimate the level of yield gaps maize in major producing areas, point out causes farmers’ fields, and identify opportunities existing through management practices production Central Java. This is strategy for closing achieve food self-sufficiency agricultural land. Methods estimates should cover data sources on physical conditions (weather soil), practices, smallholder shapes. relevant methods estimating actual yields (Ya), potential (Yp), water-limited (Yw) were compared. under intensive cropping systems rainfed ecosystems resulted significant differences all cultivation situations. lowland showed Ya, Yp, Yw values 5.57, 12.83, 12.47 ton/ha, respectively. include variety, land preparation, water issues concerned with limited inputs.

Differences in maize physiological characteristics, nitrogen accumulation, and yield under different cropping patterns and nitrogen levels

Intercropping and N fertilization play an important role in increasing crop yield. In order to further understand the advantage mechanism of intercropping and the effect of increasing N application on the advantage effect of intercropped crop, a field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different cropping patterns (i.e. M, maize monoculture; I1, maize-cotton intercrop; I2, ma...

Effect of crop residue and nitrogen levels in yield and yield attributing traits of rice under Rice-Wheat Cropping System

A 3- years (2015, 2016 and 2017) field study was carried out at National Wheat Research Program, Bhirahawa, Rupandehi, Nepal to evaluate the influence of crop residues and nitrogen levels on rice. The experiment was conducted in split plot design with three replications. Main plots were two crop residue levels (with crop residues of 30 cm wheat stubble and without crop residues) and sub plots c...

Planting scenarios for maize cropping under drought conditions

ABSTRACT Water management is an essential concept for water intensive crop such as maize dealing with water shortage under drought conditions. Maize production is ranked after wheat and barely in Fars province, Iran. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the effects of planting methods by conventional and modified planters on maize growth and yield at different irrigation re...

Relative contribution of maize and external manure amendment to soil carbon sequestration in a long-term intensive maize cropping system

We aimed to quantify the relative contributions of plant residue and organic manure to soil carbon sequestration. Using a 27-year-long inorganic fertilizer and manure amendment experiment in a maize (Zea mays L.) double-cropping system, we quantified changes in harvestable maize biomass and soil organic carbon stocks (0-20 cm depth) between 1986-2012. By employing natural (13)C tracing techniqu...
